JAKARTA - The Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Cianjur predicts hotel occupancy rates could reach around 70 percent ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays.

"The occupancy rate of PHRI Cianjur members is still relatively low at 30 to 40 percent. However, this number will increase two days before Christmas and New Year's Day, as in previous years," said Chairman of PHRI Cianjur, Nano Indra Praja when contacted in Cianjur, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, December 21.

He is optimistic that hotel occupancy in the Puncak-Cianjur area will increase because there are no social restrictions imposed by the government. However, his party still applies strict health protocols (prokes) and does not hold events that can invite crowds.

"We continue to apply strict procedures. In fact, every visitor who will spend the Christmas and New Year holidays from outside the city is required to submit a letter that has been vaccinated or via a barcode on the PeduliLindung application," he said.

He also believes that the occupancy will not exceed 70 percent of the existing capacity, in accordance with the regulations imposed by the government. Along with these steps, added Nano, the wheels of the economy that had slumped could bounce back along with the high number of visits.

Meanwhile, Marcom Manager of Le Eminance Hotel, Cipanas, Rizki Sutrisna, said that until one week before the Christmas and New Year holidays, the rate of hotel room bookings continued to increase, with a peak estimated two days before the turn of the year.

"For this week, the number of orders has reached 40 percent and it is estimated that it will reach 70 percent next week. We continue to comply with government regulations, although the order number is estimated to reach 100 percent, strict procedures and mandatory vaccination certificates are also enforced," he said.

Although they do not hold various events on New Year's Eve such as inviting the capital's artists and fireworks parties, his party is optimistic that the number of visits will be high due to the loosened restrictions.
