JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religion handed over the aid of Rp1 billion to help victims affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru in Lumajang Regency, East Java, which was collected from donations from the State Civil Apparatus (ASN).

The assistance is given by the Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas along with the opening of a series of events of The 76th Amal Bhakti (HAB) which took place at the Ministry of Religion's Field Office, Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Thursday, December 16.

"In the opening of series of the 76th HAB Events, we also provide assistance for our brothers and sisters affected by Mount Semeru eruption in Lumajang," said Minister of Religion Yaqut.

The assistance for the eruption of Mount Semeru in Lumajang, East Java, from the Ministry of Religion's family, will be handed over to the Head of the Ministry of Religion's Disaster Impact Management Task Force Team, Fesal Musaad, to the Lumajang Regency Government Disaster Task Force Team.

Based on data from the Center for Data, Information, and BNPB Disaster Communications, 43 people died from the eruption of Mount Semeru. Meanwhile, there were 104 injured residents, consisting of 32 seriously injured and 82 others moderately injured.

"Hopefully, the charity of your father and mother will be useful for our brothers and sisters in Lumajang as well as for all of our good deeds and become a record. It's good that we pay attention to our brothers who are affected by the disaster," Yaqut said.

Previously, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) ensured that emergency response services for the hot clouds and avalanches of Mount Semeru in Pronojiwo District, Lumajang Regency, East Java were carried out.

"In addition to monitoring the recent condition from the north side of the damaged Gladak Perak bridge, the optimal service to the community is also a major concern," said the acting Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center Abdul Muhari.

Abdul said, to this time, Gladak Perak Bridge connecting between Lumajang and Malang is cut off because of volcanic clouds of Mount Semeru.

This condition causes the activities of residents from and to the two cities to stagnate, especially in two sub-districts, namely Pronojiwo District and Candipuro District. In addition, logistics and handling of refugees so far have gone very well, especially in Candipuro District.

"So, during today's visit, the Head of BNPB also wants to ensure that services for affected communities in Pronojiwo District are also carried out optimally," said Abdul
