1 Family In Cianjur Survived From A 2 Meter Landslide, One Of Them Is A 1.5 Year Old Toddler

CIANJUR - A family in Limus Gede Village, Girimukti Village, Campaka District, Cianjur, West Java survived from a landslide. One of the surviving families is a 1.5-year-old toddler.

Secretary of Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Cianjur, Rudi Labis, said the landslide that hit Limus Gede Village, started when it rained heavily for approximately 2 hours and caused a 20-meter high cliff behind the landslide village.

This avalanche hit a family (4 people) in the village. "A toddler who was buried by landslide material and 3 other family members managed to survive, although they were buried by an avalanche as high as two meters. The toddler and his family have received medical treatment at the Cianjur Hospital", he said in Cianjur, Antara, Thursday, December 16.

Until now, his party is still waiting for data from officers who were immediately sent to the location, including data on the condition of one family who was buried by a landslide who had been sent home from the hospital.

Meanwhile, temporary data shows that one house belonging to Aos (33) was heavily damaged due to being buried by a landslide, four others were moderately damaged and dozens of other houses were threatened. Dozens of family heads were forced to flee for fear of another landslide.

"We are still waiting for definite data from the field, but temporary information is that one house was heavily damaged, four houses were moderately damaged and dozens more are threatened. For the time being, residents have fled to safe places because heavy rainfall returned towards night, so there is the potential for further landslides", he said.

Meanwhile, information from residents and eyewitnesses stated that landslides that occurred suddenly during heavy rains with high intensity, made most of the residents stay indoors. So when a cliff as high as 20 meters collapsed, it immediately hit the house belonging to the Aos family.

Seeing this, residents immediately rushed to the location, to help evacuate a family consisting of four people in a house that was mostly buried by landslide material. After being successfully evacuated they were immediately taken to Cianjur Hospital, for medical assistance.

"The four people, consisting of one family, were rescued, including the youngest child who was only 1.5 years old. We together with the sub-district officials immediately took one family to the hospital", said a resident eyewitness around Hilman.
