Isran Noor's Story In The High School Was Desperate To Sleep On The Governor's Bed

JAKARTA - East Kalimantan Governor Isran Noor apparently has an interesting story about the East Kalimantan Provincial Government mess in Jakarta.

He only revealed this story when he inaugurated the new Mess building for the East Kalimantan Provincial Government Liaison Agency on Kramat II Street Number 34 Kwitang, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, December 15.

"I used to come here often. It was still during the time of Mr. Awang Bahri," said Governor Isran Noor, quoted from a written statement by the East Kalimantan Provincial Government Public Relations.

Awang Bahri was the Head of the East Kalimantan Provincial Government Mess at that time, around 1976. Governor Isran Noor, who was still in high school, suddenly chose to sleep in the governor's room.

"The sound (words) of Mr. Awang Bahri, why are you sleeping there. It belongs to the governor," continued Isran Noor.

But at that time, said Isran Noor, Awang Bahri did not scold him.

"So, sir, I don't feel like sleeping here. Who knows, I might become governor," Isran smiled back at Awang Bahri at that time.

"Eee.. now a real governor. Alhamdulillah. This is called fate," Isran joked, again greeted by laughter and applause from the audience.

Adrian Hakim, a high school friend of Governor Isran Noor's who was also present at the inauguration of the Mess of the Liaison Board, confirmed the story.

"I am his classmate. I remember, we were in 3rd grade in high school on Bhayangkara street. He scored the highest in extra French lessons. So he was invited by the French Embassy to Jakarta and continued to fly to France. If I'm not mistaken, He was in France for two or three weeks at that time," said Adrian Hakim.

Adrian Hakim even admitted that Governor Isran Noor was one of the smartest and most proficient students in foreign languages at that time.
