Buses Often Crash, DPRD Asks Transjakarta To Reorganize Structure

JAKARTA - Commission B of the DKI Jakarta DPRD closed a meeting with the board of directors of PT Transjakarta BUMD with a number of recommendations. This recommendation is given in connection with the Transjakarta bus accidents that have often occurred recently.

Head of Commission B DPRD DKI Abdul Aziz said that one of the recommendations given was the obligation for Transjakarta to reform the organizational structure (reorganization) in its environment.

Aziz emphasized that Transjakarta must establish a special area for handling safety aspects in Transjakarta operations. This field is responsible for the potential for bus accidents.

"The first is that there must be a structural reorganization and there must be a person in charge of safety," said Aziz at the DKI DPRD Building, Central Jakarta, Monday, November 6.

The next recommendation is that the DPRD asks Transjakarta to provide the results of a comprehensive audit recommendation from the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT).

"Please update after there is a recommendation from the KNKT, because this will have something to do with our recommendation later," said Aziz.

Then, the DPRD urged Transjakarta to take firm action against bus operators who are partners with Transjakarta who do not comply with the minimum operating service standards, from the condition of the bus to the driver.

"Review operators who do not meet the SPM. Don't hesitate if there are operators who do not meet the SPM, so that they will be dealt with," said Aziz.

As is known, Transjakarta buses have had accidents at least six times in the last two months. The accident occurred on October 25, 2021 in Cawang, East Jakarta, which left two people dead, namely the driver and passenger of the Transjakarta bus. Meanwhile, 31 passengers were injured.

Apart from Cawang, there was also a single accident in Senen, Central Jakarta. Then, another accident occurred on October 29, 2021, in Gandaria City, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta.

Then, on Thursday, December 2, in front of the Cililitan Wholesale Center (PGC). Then, the next day, there was a single TransJakarta bus accident in front of Ratu Plaza, Jl Sudirman Jakarta.

Then today, Monday, December 6, the Transjakarta bus Puribeta - Blok M route was involved in a single accident crashing into an empty land next to the Puri Beta 2 bus stop, Larangan, Tangerang City.
