Went Viral! Student Rape Victim Of Police Suicide At Her Father's Grave, East Java Police Propam Intervenes

JAKARTA - A student with the initials NWR (23) was found dead beside her father's grave in Sooko District, Mojokerto. Later, the cause of her death was said to be suicide.

This suicide case went viral on social media after the Twitter account @convomf uploaded the incident. In addition, many reports say that the motive behind the suicide was because the girl had been raped.

In fact, it is also said that the perpetrator of the rape is a member of the Police. The Head of Public Relations of the East Java Police, Grand Commissioner Gatot Repli Handoko, who confirmed the case, said that the Mojokerto Police had handled it.

"In the case of the alleged suicide, it is true. Currently, it has been handled," said Gatot to VOI, Saturday, December 4.

Meanwhile, the alleged involvement of members of the National Police, which is said to be the motive behind the suicide, is still being investigated. The member of the National Police, identified as R, is being investigated by the East Java Regional Police Porpam.

"It has been handled by the East Java Police Propam. Is it related to this case or not," said Gatot.

"The investigation is to find out whether he (the police officer) is related to the alleged rape," he continued.

So far, continued Gatot, there has been no evidence or clues to strengthen the alleged involvement of unscrupulous members of the National Police behind the suicide.

However, he emphasized, the East Java Regional Police will continue to investigate the case to completion. "There is no evidence that leads to it (involvement) but it will continue to be investigated professionally," said Gatot.
