G20 Presidency, Indonesia Focuses On Health Handling, Digital Transformation And Sustainable Energy Transition

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo said Indonesia as the holder of the G20 Presidency in 2022 will focus on three strategic issues, namely inclusive health management, digital-based economic transformation, and the transition to sustainable energy.

"In the G-20 Presidency, Indonesia will focus on three things, firstly handling inclusive health, secondly digital-based transformation, thirdly the transition to sustainable energy", President Jokowi said at the opening ceremony of the G20 Indonesia Presidency in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 1.

As long as he holds the G20 Presidency, the President said, Indonesia will carry the theme of recovering together, recovering stronger. Literally, the theme means recovering together, recovering stronger.

President Jokowi considers the G20 Presidency a trust and honor for Indonesia. This trust is also an opportunity for Indonesia to contribute more to the world's economic recovery.

The President stressed that Indonesia will strive to build a healthier, more just, and sustainable world governance, based on freedom and lasting peace, and social justice.

"Indonesia is trying to build fairer world governance. Indonesia is trying to strengthen world solidarity in overcoming climate change and sustainable development, and garnering commitment from developed countries to help developing countries", said President Jokowi.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, on the same occasion, said that the G20 Presidency of Indonesia aims to make the world come out of the crisis better and more resilient. opportunity in the midst of a pandemic to produce breakthroughs.

In this Presidency, said Airlangga, Indonesia will use the forums at the G20 to fight for the aspirations and interests of developing countries. Thus, fairer world governance can be created. This is to strengthen world solidarity in overcoming the threat of climate change and promote sustainable development.

On December 1, 2021, Indonesia will officially become the G20 Presidency, until November 30, 2021, continuing the relay of chairmanship from Italy.

The G20 is a global forum consisting of 19 countries and one European Union. The Forum, which was formed in 1999, accounts for up to 80 percent of the world's Gross Domestic Product and 75 percent of world exports.
