Padang Social Service Accompanies Brothers Of Rape Victims Of Grandpa, Uncle And Neighbors

PADANG - Padang City Social Service, West Sumatra, will accompany two girls who are victims of rape until the case is resolved.

"We will accompany the two children until the case is decided by the court, to restore conditions and provide guidance," said Head of the Padang Social Service, Afriadi, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, November 30.

Afriadi said the two girls were still recovering with facilitation from the Social Service. According to him, the government is looking for the best way for the nine and five-year-old brothers and sisters.

"Considering the condition of the victim's family, it is not possible for us to return the child to the family," he said.

"We are looking for the best option on how to handle these two children after their psychological condition has recovered, this is in accordance with the direction of the Mayor of Padang," he continued.

According to Afriadi, the condition of the two children who were victims of rape has started to improve.

The nine and five-year-old girls were victims of rape by seven people consisting of their biological grandfathers, uncles, older siblings, cousins and neighbors.

Police have named the 70-year-old grandfather, 23-year-old uncle and 16-year-old cousin as suspects in the rape.

The case of two people consisting of the victim's older brother and cousin was transferred to a process outside the criminal justice system because they were both under 12 years of age.
