SOLO - The Surakarta City Government stated that according to the central government's regulations there were no school holidays at the end of the year to prevent a spike in COVID-19 cases.

This rule is contained in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) Number 62 of 2021 concerning Prevention and Control of COVID-19 at Christmas in 2021 and New Year in 2022.

"When it comes to the learning process according to the Ministry of Home Affairs, there is no time off for children. The results should be taken in December, the instructions will be submitted in January, hopefully it won't be a holiday," said Secretary of the Surakarta City Education Office, Dwi Aryatno, in Solo, as reported by Antara, Monday. , November 29.

To fill the vacation time, it handed over to each school. "Later, the school will make activities, the important thing is that the children are not in a holiday position, so they don't go out of town," he said.

Meanwhile, Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka said he would make a number of efforts to anticipate a possible spike in COVID-19 cases facing the Christmas and New Year holidays. One of them is by not giving school students a day off according to the academic calendar.

According to him, the Surakarta City Government will later postpone the semester I school holidays from December to January 2022. This is done to minimize crowds at the end of 2021.
