BMKG Predicts Heavy Rain In Greater Bandung At The End Of November, Potentially Causing Floods And Landslides

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts rain will pour down the Greater Bandung area, West Java Province, on the last weekend in November 2021.

"Convective cloud growth activity in the West Java region generally makes the incidence of rain in the West Java and Greater Bandung regions begin to increase", said Head of the BMKG Bandung Geophysics Station, Teguh Rahayu in Bandung, as quoted by Antara, Saturday.

According to him, the weather in the Greater Bandung area which includes Bandung Regency and City and Cimahi City at the end of November 2021 is influenced by the Asian Monsoon and Tropical Cyclone Paddy.

"With Tropical Cyclone Paddy inactive, the potential for rain will return to normal as before", he said.

Rahayu warned that rain could cause floods and landslides and he appealed to residents to be aware of the possibility of a disaster when heavy rains fell.

"For those who are traveling on the highway, in the event of extreme weather such as strong winds, please pull over immediately and enter the building, avoid taking shelter under a large tree in such conditions, stay away from cliffs if you are in a hilly area", he said.
