BANDUNG - West Java Governor M Ridwan Kamil was appointed as the Father of the Indonesian Village Consultative Body and this appointment is a form of honor because it is considered consistent in supporting BPD activities for village progress.
"On this occasion, I would like to thank you for the honor given to me. I was awarded the 'Father of BPD throughout Indonesia," said Ridwan Kamil in Bandung, quoted by Antara, Friday, November 26.
This award was given at the closing ceremony of the National Working Meeting of the Village Consultative Body (BPD) at the Merdeka building, Bandung City.
With this appointment, Ridwan Kamil claimed to be more flexible and confident in advancing the village, not only in West Java but also throughout Indonesia.
"With this necklace, it means that I have a way to help men outside of West Java," said Ridwan Kamil, who also designed the Al Irsyad Mosque, located in Padalarang, West Bandung, West Java.
Ridwan Kamil has several ideas that are ready to be shared with villages throughout Indonesia. For example, the development of new and renewable energy (EBT) which has been applied to several villages in West Java.
"In West Java there is a village on the top of a mountain without PLN electricity, finally we make technology from small river water. So if there are still Indonesian villages that do not have electricity, I have a lot of innovations from wind, from water, from the sun," said Ridwan Kamil.
The reason Ridwan Kamil really cares and loves the village is because according to him the future of Indonesia's economy is in the village. Especially with the industrial revolution 4.0 which is making it easier and expanding the village economy.
Therefore, the West Java Provincial Government issued a Digital Village program. The hope is that with this digital concept, rural communities no longer need to move to cities to earn and seek sustenance.
"The village is a big force in building Indonesia in the future, then the village is where we were born, the village is where we serve through innovation," said Ridwan Kamil.
"Millennial children must return to the village, COVID-19 teaches, in the city there are many diseases, in the village a little disease. The 4.0 revolution teaches economic business can be done anywhere. Therefore living in the village, the sustenance of the city, global business that's the time front of Indonesia in the village," he said.
