Youth Planting Cannabis In Jember Arrested By Police

JEMBER - The Jember Police Narcotics Investigation Unit, East Java arrested a young man with the initials AG who was storing marijuana plants and packages.

"We have secured AG (29), a resident of Dawuhan Lor Village, Lumajang District, Lumajang Regency in the Perum Residence area of Darsono Village, Arjasa District, Jember Regency," said Jember Police Narcotics Head Iptu Sugeng Iryanto, quoted by Antara, Friday, November 26.

The police arrested a young man on a case of suspected marijuana-type drug abuse with evidence in the form of 4 packages of cannabis-type narcotics with a net weight of 109.94 grams and 3 cannabis plants.

"When we secured it, at the reported house there was evidence of 4 packages of marijuana type narcotics with a net weight of 109.94 grams, 3 cannabis plants, 1 bundle of cigarette paper and two mobile phones," said Iptu Sugeng.

According to him, the arrest of the perpetrator started from a public report regarding the alleged drug abuse of marijuana in the area.

"Based on the suspect's confession, the cannabis plant was obtained by buying it in Malang City, so we will carry out further development and legal processes," he said.

The suspect was detained at the Jember Police Headquarters to be held accountable. The suspect was charged with Article 114 (1) and or Article 111 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

The Jember Police Narcotics Team, he continued, will hunt down drug suppliers in their working area and urge the public to play an active role in conveying information related to the circulation of illicit goods.

Previously, the Jember Police arrested four people, two of whom were students of a private university (PTS) in Malang who were dealers of dried marijuana with 2.8 kilograms of evidence seized.

Four people were arrested, namely BO (29) a resident of Sumbersari Sub-district and AW (30) a resident of Kaliwates Sub-district, both residents of Jember Regency, while two private university students in Malang namely IS (24) a resident of West Kalimantan and IM (24) a resident of East Kalimantan.
