UMP Only Increases IDR 37 Thousand, DKI Provincial Government Adds Worker Card Recipients

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has increased the coverage of Jakarta Worker Card (KPJ) recipients after the announcement of the provincial minimum wage (UMP). It is known, the increase in DKI UMP in 2022 is only IDR 37 thousand.

Head of the Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Agency, Andri Yansyah, said that his party projects an additional 6,000 workers.

Previously, there were 41 thousand people registered on the Jakarta Worker Card. With this addition, KPJ recipients become 47 thousand people.

"So, the coverage that will be obtained from the Worker Card is certainly more than in previous years", Andri told reporters, Tuesday, November 23.

Andri said that the conditions for receiving KPJ were workers whose UMP was added 15 percent. This means, to be able to receive this card, the worker's salary must be below IDR 5,122,025.

In addition to the maximum salary limit for KPJ recipients, the criteria for getting this card are workers who work in Jakarta and have an ID card for the capital city. Later, the government will verify that it is synchronized with BPJS data according to the existing conditions.

"From 2018 until the last year, those who received the Worker Card were the recipients of the UMP plus 10 percent. As long as he worked, he had a DKI ID card, and the income used to be 10 percent, UMP, now the UMP plus 15 percent, he still gets this card", he explained.

For information, the Provincial Government DKI Jakarta has set the DKI Jakarta Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) in 2022. In its calculation, the wages of workers have increased by 0.85 percent or around IDR 37 thousand to IDR 4,453,935.

The determination of this year's UMP is said to be by the provisions of the laws and regulations which are the reference for all regions of Indonesia.

DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that the amount of the UMP was based on the provisions of Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation and the formula contained in Article 26 and Article 27 of Government Regulation Number 36 of 2021 concerning Wages that apply to workers/laborers with a working period of less than 1 (one) year.

"So the minimum wage for DKI Jakarta province in 2022 has been set at IDR 4,453,935", said Governor Anies at City Hall, Central Jakarta, Sunday, November 21.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government obliges entrepreneurs to prepare the structure and scale of wages in their companies by taking into account the company's capabilities and productivity as a guideline for wages for workers/laborers with a working period of 1 year or more.
