Indonesian Citizens In Malaysia Asked To Obey Prokes Related To The Threat Of Expulsion

JAKARTA - The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Kuala Lumpur appealed to Indonesian citizens and migrant workers in Malaysia to comply with health protocols related to the threat of eviction by local immigration for those who violate.

"The Indonesian Embassy always urges PMIs and Indonesian citizens to always comply with the SOP for health protocols and regulations applicable in Malaysia on various occasions", said the Coordinator of Social and Cultural Affairs at the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Yoshi Iskandar, in Kuala Lumpur, as quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 18.

Yoshi said the Indonesian Embassy in collaboration with relevant parties in Malaysia appealed and facilitated Indonesian citizens who had not been vaccinated to undergo this step to reduce the impact of exposure to COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) said in a statement that recently it was often viral on social media about the issue of foreign nationals violating the SOP for preventing COVID-19.

"In fact, there are those who deliberately challenge the authorities to take action against them", said Malaysian Immigration Director-General, Khairul Dzaimee Bin Daud.

In this regard, said Khairul, JIM advises all foreign nationals to comply with the latest directives and regulations of government institutions regarding measures to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic.

"JIM will not hesitate to cancel the permit and all immigration facilities that have been granted. They will also be expelled back to their country of origin and blacklisted from re-entering this country as stipulated in Article 8 and Article 9 of the Immigration Deed 1959/63", he said.

In addition, JIM also reminds residents who are sponsors or employers of foreign nationals to be more responsible in ensuring that foreigners comply with Malaysian directives and laws.
