KSB Member Selon Songonau Dies In Shooting Contact In Intan Jaya With TNI

PAPUA - A member of the armed civilian group (KSB), Selon Songonau was killed during a shootout with the TNI in Intan Jaya Regency, Papua.

Selon was reportedly killed during a gunfight that occurred on Sunday, November 14, said Danrem 173/PVB Brigadier General Taufan Gastoro, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, November 17.

The Danrem, whose work area covers 12 regencies, admitted that during the gunfight in Wandoga Village, Sugapa District, no members were injured.

From reports received, the funeral was attended by religious leaders and community leaders. When asked about the burning of the TNI post as revealed by KSB through the TPNPB website, the Danrem emphasized that it was not true and it was a hoax.

"No TNI posts were burned," said Brigadier General Taufan, while admitting that there were posts that were no longer in use because they had been moved to locations that were relatively easier to reach and others.

"Overall the security conditions in Sugapa are relatively safe, community activities are starting to return to normal, but the soldiers are still on standby," said Brigadier General Taufan, who was contacted from Jayapura.
