Rita Widyasari Confirmed The Role Of Azis Syamsuddin Recommends Robin

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed the former Kutai Kartanegara Regent Rita Widyasari regarding the role of the suspected former Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament Azis Syamsuddin (AZ) who recommended former KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju.

The KPK examined Rita as a witness for the suspect Azis at the Class IIA prison in Tangerang, Banten, Monday, in an investigation into the alleged bribery case related to the handling of corruption cases handled by the KPK in Central Lampung Regency.

"The person concerned was present and confirmed, among others, related to the role of suspect AZ who recommended witnesses to take care of her case at the KPK with Stepanus Robin Pattuju," said Acting KPK Spokesperson Ipi Maryati Kuding in a statement quoted by Antara, Monday, November 15.

The former Regent of Kukar Rita is currently serving a prison sentence related to bribery and gratification cases.

Apart from Rita, the KPK also examined two other witnesses at the KPK Building, Jakarta, for the suspect Azis, namely Aliza Gunado and Edy Sujarwo, each from the private sector.

"The witnesses were present and their knowledge was investigated regarding the role of suspect AZ who is suspected of being active in managing the application for DAK funds (special allocation funds) for Central Lampung Regency in 2017 with the receipt of a fee for his assistance," said Ipi.

In the construction of the case, the KPK suspected that Azis had given Robin a bribe of Rp3.1 billion from the initial commitment of Rp4 billion.

The gift was given to Robin to help take care of the case in Central Lampung allegedly involving Azis and Aliza Gunado who are being investigated by the KPK.

Aliza is a Golkar Party cadre who has served as the former Deputy Chairperson of the PP Youth Forces of the Golkar Party (AMPG).

During the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Monday (18/10), Rita said that Azis had brought Robin as a KPK investigator to the Tangerang prison to process a request for reconsideration (PK).

Rita at that time testified for two defendants, namely Robin and advocate Maskur Husain who was charged with receiving a total of Rp11.5 billion from the management of five cases at the KPK.

In the indictment, Rita is said to have bribed Robin worth Rp5.197 billion to take care of the return of assets confiscated by the KPK related to the crime of money laundering (TPPU) and the request for PK.

However, in the trial also at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Monday, October 25, Azis denied facilitating the meeting between Rita and Robin.

Azis only admitted that he had met Rita in prison and coincidentally Robin also met Azis at the same location.
