JAKARTA - A resident in Aping Village, Sajingan District, Sambas Regency was reportedly hit by lightning. Luckily it wasn't fatal.

To prevent a similar incident from happening again, the Pamtas Task Force for the Mechanical Infantry Battalion 643/Wns helped build a lightning rod at the house of a resident of Sahdan Lubis (64) in Aping Village, Sajingan District, Sambas Regency.

This was stated by the Dansatgas (Commander of Task Force) Pamtas Mechanical Battalion 643/Wns, Lt. Col. Inf. Hendro Wicaksono, in his written statement at Makotis Entikong, Sanggau District, last Sunday 14 November.

Dansatgas said the installation of lightning rods was carried out by three personnel from the KM 28 post, led by Danpos Sertu Suryanto.

"The manufacture of this lightning rod began when Pos KM 28 personnel carrying out anjangsana in the target village received information that one of the residents of Aping Village was struck by lightning but did not suffer serious injuries," said Dansatgas.

From the information obtained, Danpos KM28 Sertu Suryanto responsively, armed with the knowledge obtained during training before leaving for work, took the initiative to make a lightning rod at Sahdan Lubis' house to be safe from lightning strikes.

"From the beginning of my assignment, I have ordered the ranks of the Pamtas Task Force posts to be responsive and innovative in overcoming the difficulties of the surrounding people," concluded the Dansatgas.

Separately, Commander of KM 28 post (Danpos), 1st Sgt. Suryanto said that the installation of a lightning rod at Mr. Sahdan Lubis' house was an anticipatory step so that his house was safe from lightning, considering that his house was in a lightning-prone area.

"We try to always help every difficulty of the people around the post according to the instructions and directions from the top command," said Danpos.

Sahdan Lubis expressed his gratitude for the assistance provided by the KM 28 post so that his house is now safe from lightning strikes.

"Thank you TNI gentlemen who have helped our community at the border, I hope your assignments will always be smooth and successful," he said as released by the Dispenad.
