Search for drowning victims on the Ciliwung River

JAKARTA - Head of the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Operations (Gulkarmat) Section, Gatot Sulaeman said his team found a young man with the initials W (20) who had drowned in the Ciliwung River, Bidara Cina Village, Jatinegara, East Jakarta.

The victim was found dead and stuck in a pile of garbage.

"The victim was found by the operator of the heavy equipment (Department) of Water Resources in a pile of garbage, 50 meters from the location of the slip. The victim was found in a condition of old age", Gatot told reporters, Tuesday, November 9.

The victim's body was found when the search evacuation process was carried out at around 13.05 WIB.

In the evacuation, his party deployed two rubber boats with 10 personnel.

"The search started at 08.50 WIB and ended at 13.05 WIB", said Gatot.

It was previously reported that Willi (20) was swept away by the current of the Ciliwung River after he fell into the Ciliwung River, at RT 04/03, Bidara Cina Village, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta.

"The victim was walking on the banks of the Ciliwung River, but the victim slipped and fell into the Ciliwung River where the current was quite strong", said Gatot.
