Luhut Alludes To The Increase In Jakarta's COVID-19 Cases, Deputy Governor Riza Asks Residents To Stay At Home

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria asked the public to stay at home if there is no need to go out, even though currently implementing PPKM Level 1.

This is in response to the spotlight of the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan who said that Jakarta was one of the areas experiencing an increase in COVID-19 cases over the past week.

"We ask the public to stay at home. Second, make sure to implement the health protocols, and make sure they get the vaccine," said Riza at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, November 9.

Riza admitted that with the easing of activities in the implementation of PPKM Level 1, the mobility of people in the capital city increased. The potential for crowds also occurs, giving rise to the transmission of the virus.

"Indeed, because of the easing of PPKM entering level 1, the potential for people to leave the house. Interaction increases, crowds increase, then finally the potential for spread can increase if we do not obey and obey," he said.

However, Riza said the capital city had succeeded in increasing efforts to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 with high vaccination coverage.

Currently, the vaccination achievement in the Capital City is 10,956,471 at the first dose and 8,553,541 at the second dose. This figure has almost touched the target of 11.4 million vaccinations. Therefore, he asked the public to remain disciplined in health protocols.

"People must be vigilant even though they are at level 1. They must obey and be disciplined and have to get the vaccine," he said.

Previously, Luhut said that currently there are 43 regencies/cities in Java-Bali that have experienced an increase in COVID-19 cases over the past week.

Luhut said that one of the provinces where cases were increasing was in DKI Jakarta, namely in four administrative cities in the capital city.

"In Jakarta, in North, East, West, South Jakarta, almost all of the trends have gone up," said Luhut.
