JAKARTA - Four Italian soldiers suffered minor injuries after two rockets exploded at a UNIFIL peacekeeping force base in southern Lebanon.

The UN mission known as UNIFIL was stationed in southern Lebanon to monitor hostilities along the demarcation line with Israel.

Since Israel launched ground operations across the border against Hezbollah fighters in late September, UNIFIL soldiers have experienced several attacks.

The Ministry of Defense said two 122mm rockets hit a bunker at a base in Chama village and a room near the headquarters of international military police, causing damage to surrounding infrastructure.

Several broken glass was caused by the explosion, and hit the four soldiers.

It is intolerable if once again the UNIFIL base is attacked, said Defense Ministerdo Crosetto.

Italy has long been a major contributor to multi-national operations with a magnitude of 10,000 personnel, and provides more than 1,000 troops.

Israel was also accused of several attacks, but denied the incident was intentional.

Isrel has asked UNIFIL to flee southern Lebanon for their own safety requests rejected by the troops.
