JAKARTA The New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) independent safety agency for Latin America and the Caribbean region (Latin NCAP) has just released the results of testing the Citrocan C3 Aircross model sold in the region. Unfortunately, the test results showed disappointing performance, with the acquisition of zero stars in the hit test conducted by the regulator.
The Low SUV (LSUV) model assembled in Brazil is only equipped with two airbags and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as standard. In testing, this car scored 33.01 percent for the Adult Occupant category, 11.37 percent for Child Occupant, 49.57 percent for Pedestrian Protection and Vulnerable Road Users, and 34.88 percent for the Safety Assist category. These results place CitroZin C3 Aircross under market expectations in terms of safety.
NCAP's Latin Secretary-General, Alejandro Furas, has firmly urged Stellantis, PSA, and Citro harun to raise basic safety standards on this model.
"Latin NCAP urges Stellantis, PSA, and CitroUN to change its approach, improve basic safety equipment in cars, and donate cars to Latin NCAP to show consumers their performance," Furas said in the official NCAP Latin broadcast on Friday, November 22.
Disappointing Test Results
Testing of Citroatur C3 Aircross includes front clashes, side clashes, whiplash, pedestrian protection, and ESC. However, the side post collision test was not carried out due to inadequate side shields on the front and rear rows.
Front Clashes: Show weak protection against the chest of the front passenger. Sidelash: There is a relevant disturbance in the passenger's compartment, which increases the risk of injury. Whiplash test: Shows poor protection against the necks of adult passengers.

In the Child Occupant category, this car failed to get points because the ISOFIX anchor tagging did not meet NCAP Latin standards. Most of the tested Child Restraint System (CRS) failed to be installed properly. In addition, the feature to disable passenger seat airbags when installing CRS facing backwards is also not available.
Pedestrian Protection and Vulnerable Road Users testing shows limited protection in certain areas. In addition, seat belt reminders on Citro total C3 Aircross do not meet NCAP Latin standards. The car also does not offer modern features such as Speed Assist Systems, Lane Support System, and Autonomous Emergency Braking as a standard, not even available as additional options.
The NCAP Latin assesses that Citroatur C3 Aircross needs major improvements to improve the safety of its users. With the existing test results, this car is expected to be a serious concern for Stellantis to immediately improve its approach to the market in the region.
