PADANG - Bonsai lovers in collaboration with the Padang City Tourism Office held a bonsai tree exhibition at the Padang Beach tourist attraction.

The chairman of the Bonsai Exhibition Committee, Herdinanto in Padang, said that the average bonsai trees on display had a fairly high selling value.

"There are as many as 300 bonsai trees that are being exhibited and there are several old bonsai trees, one of which is the Gulo Gumantum type which has a price of Rp250 million," he said, quoted by Antara, Monday, November 8.

He said the bonsai exhibition was chosen to fill the agenda of tourism activities because there are quite a lot of bonsai craftsmen in Padang besides that his party also included several regions in West Sumatra to participate in exhibiting their bonsai at the event.

The bonsai cast also aims to invite people to love bonsai and want to learn to make bonsai because the selling price is quite high.

The bonsai tree exhibition entitled Bonsai Rancak Bana with the theme "Work Without Limits, Creates Without Stopping" will last until November 14, 2021.

All bonsai exhibited at the event will be assessed by a committee from the Padang City Tourism Office and will be given prizes for the best bonsai trees.

"We will announce the winners on the closing day of the exhibition, which is on November 14, 2021. The winners will receive trophies and coaching money," he said.

Meanwhile, one of the visitors to the exhibition, Kurniati, admitted that she really enjoyed the bonsai trees on display at the event.

"Even though the bonsai is small, it has a unique shape and has its own characteristics that I have never met before," he said.

He said he was quite interested in trying to make a bonsai tree at his home because he knew the selling price was quite high.

"I plan to buy bonsai materials at this exhibition because the price is quite affordable, I heard that there were 50 to hundreds of thousands of rupiah," he said.
