Corruption Supervision Commission Appears In Riau, KPK Reminds People To Beware Of Fraud

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reminds the public to be careful of fraudulent modes that use official logos or attributes.

This was conveyed after the KPK received information that there were parties using the name of the Regional Leadership Council of the Corruption Supervision Commission of Riau Province and sent letters to a number of parties.

"The party in question used attributes that resembled the Corruption Eradication Commission's logo and corresponded to several parties in the Riau Province," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Ali Fikri told reporters quoted Friday, November 5.

He reminded anyone who uses the name and logo attributes similar to the KPK not to abuse and even blackmail the public. Moreover, similar modes are rife and eventually cause losses.

"Fraud under the guise of using a name and logo resembling the Corruption Eradication Commission is rife in various regions and has resulted in losses for many parties," said Ali.

Furthermore, he said the KPK often cooperates with other law enforcement officers and arrests perpetrators of fraud and extortion who use the mode of using attributes and logos.

Not only that, Ali asked the public to always be vigilant and immediately report if they met a fake KPK person.

"The public needs to be always vigilant and careful, and does not hesitate to immediately report it to the KPK or other law enforcement officers if they know or experience a similar crime," he said.

Then, he also reminded the KPK not to open branches anywhere. The reason is, based on Law Number 19 of 2019 Article 19 states that the position of the KPK is in the capital city of the Republic of Indonesia.

"KPK in carrying out efforts to eradicate corruption through prevention, education, and enforcement tasks often cooperates with various parties in the regions. However, the KPK has never had a representative office in the regions, either at the city/district or provincial level," concluded Ali.
