There Are Terms And Conditions That Apply To Jakarta If You Don't Want To Be Flooded

JAKARTA - For the Governor of DKI Anies Baswedan, Jakarta may not be flooded if it rains heavily. The condition is that the volume of rainwater must be below 100 millimeters (mm) per day according to the drainage capacity.

"If the rain is below 100 millimeters, then there should be no flooding," said Anies Baswedan at Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday.

He said, if the volume of rainwater is below 100 millimeters per day and there are still floods, then there is something wrong in the management.

"It means something is wrong with management," he said.

Anies targets that flooding in the capital can be overcome within six hours after the rain stops if the volume of rainfall reaches above 100 millimeters per day.

"When we talk about flooding, it always has something to do with the volume of rainwater and the volume of river water flow. So we set a target after the rain stops," said Anies.

He explained that if the rainfall is above 100 millimeters per day, the water must be pumped and dry within six hours.

Likewise with the overflow of the river, he continued, it is targeted to return to its normal point within six hours.

"If the river flow does not go down and down, the flooding will automatically continue. This is our control using targets," said Anies.

Anies said that it has only been one year since he has implemented a target in dealing with Jakarta floods so that every work can be accomplished.

"The targets are two, one is that there should be no casualties and the second is after returning (the river overflow) to the normal line, that's after six hours, but if it doesn't return, it will continue to be a puddle," he said.
