JAKARTA - Social Minister Tri Rismaharini said that his ministry has a budget to help children who have lost their parents during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the assistance has not been carried out because it is still in the verification stage.

"Actually, we have a budget to provide assistance to children," Risma told reporters at the National Police Headquarters, Tuesday, November 2.

Verification in question is to record the number of affected children. Because, so far, based on data from the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) there are 24 thousand children affected.

Therefore, said Social Minister Risma, data collection at the regional level is still needed. Thus, assistance for all children who have lost their parents due to COVID-19 can be distributed properly.

"We have not verified the details because this requires speed from the regions to record them," said Risma.

Although she did not specify the form of assistance that would be provided, Risma said that the assistance could be used so that the affected children could continue to go to school. Thus, their education is guaranteed and can achieve their goals.

"They are still enthusiastic that they can still go to school because they receive social assistance so that they can go to school," Risma said.
