MUI Urges Government To Revoke PSN Status For PIK 2

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has asked the government to revoke the status of the National Strategic Project (PSN) owned by PIK 2.

The request is one of the points resulting from the 4th MUI National Working Conference (Mukernas).

"The MUI asks the government to revoke the status of the National Strategic Program, PSN, Pantai Indah Kapuk II or PIK 2 because it brings a lot of harm to the community," said Deputy Secretary General (Wasekjen) MUI Rofiqul Umam Ahmad reading the results of the 4th Mukernas in Jakarta on Thursday 19 December, confiscated by Antara.

MUI's recommendation for PSN to be revoked for PIK is clearly Rofiqul, because it is not in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.

Previously, the MUI said that the assessment was related to the granting of PSN status to PIK 2 in the 4th Mukernas because it received complaints from the public, especially from scholars regarding the construction of the project.

The inclusion of the PIK 2 issue into the Mukernas is also a form of commitment from the MUI as a servant of the ummah community (khodimul ummah) and affirms the role of a government partner (shodiqul hukumah).

He also asked the government, both at the national and local governments (Pemda), to get closer to the people, listen to the aspirations and needs of the people, as the basis for policies made by the government.

Especially after the regional head election, Rofiqul said MUI called for it to remain consistent and deviate from campaign promises from the beginning of its tenure until the end of its term of office.

"MUI expects all national and regional leaders to become the main actors, role models, main drivers in strengthening and practicing the ideology of Pancasila, democracy and human rights, as well as preventing and taking action against state administration officials who commit irregularities," he said.

On that occasion, MUI also encouraged Indonesia to continue to play a global diplomatic role in order to stop all forms of colonialism and realize world peace, as well as the establishment of a Palestinian state. They also asked for strengthening the role of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and strengthening humanitarian support and assistance to the Palestinian people.
