JAKARTA - Japanese alternative rock band ONE OK ROCK successfully rocked the Indonesia Arena stage, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Saturday, May 16, evening. The concert titled ONE OK ROCK: DETOX Asia Tour 2026 became a magnet for tens of thousands of pairs of eyes that filled the arena for two full hours.

Jakarta was specially chosen as the sweet closing city of their Asian tour series, after Taka Moriuchi (vocals), Toru Yamashita (guitar), Ryota Kohama (bass), and Tomoya Kanki (drums) successfully burned the stage in other major Asian cities.

This concert also serves as a direct introduction to their 11th studio album, "DETOX", which has been released since February 2025 - marking the milestone of 20 years of ONE OK ROCK's musical journey.

The show starts at 20.00 WIB. It starts with the arena lights being turned off, then the typical visuals of the "DETOX" album decorate the giant monitor behind the stage - depicting the chaotic condition of the earth in the midst of global warfare, closed with a symbol of the raised left hand as a symbol of resistance.

Without further ado, Taka and his team immediately hit the ground running by performing "Puppet Can't Control You", followed by the song "The Beginning" which is the OST of Samurai X, as well as "Save Yourself". A total of 19 repertoire songs were performed that night, combining the latest tracks from the album "DETOX" as well as other hits from the album "Niche Syndrome" (2010), "Zankyo Reference" (2011), to "Eye of the Storm" (2019).

In between the energetic performance, the vocalist, Taka Moriuchi, revealed the deep meaning behind the birth of the album "DETOX". He said, the material on this album is a sincere response to the social-political turmoil of the world that has become increasingly worrying in recent years.

"In the last few years we felt like going back to our musical roots, back to the stronger rock and roll," Taka said.

"But this album feels much more special, because about four years ago, I started to realize that the world was heading for a big mess. I really felt it," continued the vocalist.

Taka also boldly criticized the phenomenon of musicians who tend to be apathetic and choose to remain silent on social issues in order to avoid public criticism. For him, the album "DETOX" was produced purely on the basis of humanity and universal peace, not a political agenda.

"I hope the message in this album can reach all of you. And I also really respect whoever you are, whatever your gender and views," he said.

The message of resistance was felt very strongly when ONE OK ROCK performed the song "Renegades". Taka said the song was dedicated as a symbol of resistance against unjust dictatorial systems in various parts of the world.

The warm interaction between the staff and fans (OORers) added to the intimacy of the concert. Toru Yamashita managed to stir the crowd with a challenge to their sound volume. Meanwhile, Tomoya Kanki managed to shake the audience's stomachs when he greeted them in fluent Indonesian thanks to reading the text.

"How's Jakarta? I'm so happy to be back here. Thank you again," said Tomoya.

"I love Blok-M. I love cilok. And I love you all," continued the drummer who was immediately greeted with laughter from the audience.

The emotional atmosphere peaked towards the end of the concert. The ONE OK ROCK Indonesia fan community managed to execute the fan project that had been prepared. When slow-tempo songs like "Tropical Therapy", and "The Pilot" were played, the audience simultaneously turned on the flashlight from their mobile phones.

Interestingly, some spectators have attached special blue sketlet stickers to their mobile lights. As a result, Indonesia Arena is covered with a mix of blue lights in the festival area and a clean white in the upper stands.

This creative action made Taka stunned and silent for a few seconds on stage while looking up in admiration of the beautiful glow of the lights. Carried away by the magical atmosphere of that night, the vocalist couldn't help but be touched by the long journey of his band over the past two decades.

"We are one, and I want to be with you. Forever," said Taka emotionally before closing the concert with the tradition of taking selfies with the audience from the stage.
