Sheila On 7 gives a "Simple" gift to fans on her 30th birthday

JAKARTA - Sheila on 7 introduced the latest single with the title "Simple" to coincide with the 30th anniversary (anniversary) celebration on Wednesday, May 6, yesterday.

The production process of "Simple" was actually completed since 2024, in conjunction with the work on the previous single, "Good Memory".

However, the choice of the release date, which coincides with the journey of three decades of Duta (vocals), Eross (guitar), and Adam (bass), is deliberate to give a deep impression to his loyal listeners, Sheilagank.

"Why was it released at the moment of our 30th anniversary, because originally Sheila on 7 had no agenda at all. So, this will certainly be something to remember, that the song 'Simple' we dedicated to Sheilagank as a special gift, because until now they are still loyal to listen to Sheila on 7 songs," said the Ambassador in a press conference at Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, Wednesday.

Musically, "Simple" holds a unique fact that evokes nostalgia for the 2000s era. Eross Candra who wrote the song, initially designed the verse with a rap touch. Then after going through the creative discussion process, the part was given a notation to remain in harmony with the character of Sheila on 7's music.

That way, "Simple" became the second song by Sheila On 7 that embedded rap elements after the song "Secret Worshipper" which was included in the album "Pejantan Tangguh" (2004).

The lyrics themselves carry a message of remembrance regarding lifestyles amidst the siege of modern consumerist culture. Eross highlights the importance of being able to distinguish between wants and needs so as not to get caught up in unnecessary problems.

"As expressed in the lyrics, the message of our song is to invite everyone to live according to their portion and still be happy," said Eross.

"If everyone can understand what the desire or need is, then they can put it, then that person's life will be simple, not fussy. Because people like that are actually very likely to have a lot of happiness," he continued.

Furthermore, "Simple" is the second single of Sheila On 7 - after "Good Memory" - which features the voice of Duta's eldest daughter, Aishameglio, on background vocals.

As for Aishameglio, even though he is currently busy with his studies, he is one of the four players in the session - along with Elang Nuraga (guitar), Vikri (kibor), and Bounty Ramdhan (drums) - who have consistently been brought by Sheila On 7 in their stage performances in recent years.
