Mekel's Prayers and Hopes for the Victims of the Sumatra Floods

JAKARTA - Singer who currently serves as a member of the House of Representatives (DPR), Once Mekel, conveyed great hope for the recovery of the condition of victims of the Sumaetra flood and landslide disaster.

Once himself had just performed in a charity concert titled "100 Musicians Heal Sumatra" which was held in Kemang, South Jakarta on Tuesday, December 16.

Representing fellow musicians, the former Dewa vocalist hopes that what is collected from this charity concert can really help the victims.

"Yes, we all, I and my musician and singer friends, we all pray that our brothers and sisters of the same nation and homeland in Sumatra can be helped by many positive movements," said Once, met on the sidelines of his appearance.

He also hopes that the victims will still have a high spirit of life in the midst of the disaster that hit.

"And stay motivated there, also especially the children, stay motivated, stay able to play, and health is still maintained," he said. "So that we can build everything back up in the future."

Initially, Once admitted that he had thought about flying directly to the disaster site, but unfortunately there were many activities that he had to do in Jakarta. Therefore, he chose to be quite active in fundraising.

"It just so happened that I thought about it (going to Sumatra), but I didn't have time because there were a lot of activities here," he said.

For information, as of December 16 at 22.00 WIB, the total donation collected from the "100 Musicians Heal Sumatra" charity concert has exceeded Rp. 17,094,300,275.
