For Revenge Presents EP Before Celebrating With Elsa Japasal As A Collaborator

JAKARTA - An alternative rock music group from Bandung, for Revenge chose the initial moment of 2025 for the release of their EP or mini album entitled Before Celebrating. This album launched January 18 with a total of five songs.

Three acoustic versions of their previous singles are on this album, namely "Sadrah", Restrictions', and Initially', plus two new songs, namely Waiting', which unites them with Elsa Japasal and Kala Luka Bercelat, where they have a duet with Wira Nagara.

Before Celebrating, it was a prologue towards their fifth album "Celebrating Hearts Round 2 which will be released afterwards. Because this is an acoustic mini album, the five existing tracks also use acoustic arrangements, including two new songs. In addition, the other two songs are collaborations.

"This album has been worked on since October 2024 and took about three months. With the concept of acoustics and collaboration, our challenge in working on Before Celebrating is more about trying to match the character for Revenge with the collaborators. But, besides that, all processes run smoothly and are ready to be enjoyed by music lovers starting January 18, "said Boniex Noer, vocalist for Revenge in a press release received by VOI, January 17.

One of the tracks that can be enjoyed is 'Waiting for your turn', their collaboration with Elsa Japasal According to Arief Ismail (guitarist), this track is still connected to Sadrah and Initially because it is the fourth part of the big theme Stages of Grief (Streams of Sadness).

The song 'Waiting for it' is still related to our previous two singles, which this time represented the 'Depression' phase, the stage when a person loses hope because of the grief experienced. Through this song, we describe this condition from the point of view of someone who is at the lowest point of view, loses direction, and doesn't know where to go. In the end, at every verse, it's like 'Waiting for it's turn' to lead someone who's in that phase to find what's left of a slump.'

The nuance of the song "Waiting for your turn" was deemed necessary to involve a female singer, until Elsa Japasal or Eca Aura was elected as a collaborator.

While working on this song for the album Before Celebrating, we felt that this song was too 'dark' and needed a voice that could make it sound 'stating'. At that time, coincidentally, we had seen and heard Eca sing on several occasions and felt that her voice character could give another color to this song. Our invitation to collaborate was also greeted by Eca, "the Boniex story.

Not only is the voice character deemed suitable to fill this song, for Revenge, Elsa Japasal also has great talent in the field of music.

"Currently, Eca is one of the most well known figures in the current generation, but not many know that Eca also has extraordinary potential in music so we intend to explore this potential and introduce it to the public. For Revenge, collaborating with singers outside of our genre is a challenge that is interesting to try out," said Boniex again.

The composition of the three old acoustic songs and two new songs still have a common thread. According to Archims, there is a special message they want to convey through this EP.

"The point is, happiness and sadness always go hand in hand through the songs we present. Both are inseparable things in life.
