JAKARTA - Former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson spoke again about the musyik world he was involved in. With the sweet bitterness he felt during his career, he said heavy metal was not for everyone.
He doesn't see this as an obstacle. Hard music has its own loyal fans. They also made the concert stage a productive exchange tool between musicians and fans.
According to him, music is part of his artwork, and what he does on stage is to fulfill fans' wishes. To Alexandra Hernandez, he talked about his point of view as a musician.
"Nothing makes me happier than seeing people among the audience happy to be there and [already] on stage entertaining them, performing for them, because it's their night; they're the ones paying for it. We're on stage, we're the products they pay for," he quoted Blabbermouth, December 29.
Highlighting heavy metal, for him, is not much different from jazz. It is part of a subculture that may not be massive but really has totality connoisseurs.

"And it's not meant to be mainstream. It was once a mainstream, but mostly, it was a subculture, and people came because they liked it and they knew the songs, they knew the people involved in it, they knew the lyrics, some of them were musicians."
David Ellefson now has a new music project called DIETH with vocalist and guitarist Guilherme Miranda and drummer Micha pastysejko.
