JAKARTA - A series of Indonesian musicians, ranging from Voice of Baceprot (VoB) to Greenhouse Effect (ERK), united for a compilation album with the title sonic/panic Vol. 2.

This album was initiated on the initiative of The Indonesian Climate Communications, Arts, and Music Lab (IKLIM) and released through Alam Records, involving 15 names that produced 15 songs that voiced the climate crisis.

Each work reflects deep concern for the climate crisis and invites listeners to participate in real action.

Apart from VoB and ERK, there are also Petra Sihombing, Asteriska, Matter Mos, Bsar, Daniel Rumbekwan, Bachoxs, Down For Life, Jangar, LAS!, Poker Mustache, Rhosy Snap, The Vondallz, and Wake Up Iris!.

The musicians above come from nine cities in Indonesia, namely Jakarta, Makassar, Pontianak, Madiun, Malang, Bandung, Solo, Fakfak, and Denpasar. The election is to strengthen the message of diversity in this movement.

Bob from LAS! Says the band's concerns about the climate crisis at their place in West Kalimantan, made them feel compelled to join.

"So far, the band and I have often voiced about the climate crisis and the struggle of the indigenous peoples of West Kalimantan through our songs and campaigns," Bob said in his statement, Tuesday, October 29.

"We hope this message can reach more people and encourage them to take concrete action for the future of the earth," he continued.

The compilation album'sonic/panic Vol. 2' is expected to encourage real action by the community and invite the music industry to implement more environmentally friendly practices.

Those involved in this initiative believe that music has the power to reach various circles, touch emotions, create space for reflection, and encourage real action. They are united by their concern for the future of the earth.

Meanwhile, the production of this album began with a workshop held in Bali last July, with environmental organizations and climate experts. Many of them feel shocked by the reality about the impact of the climate crisis they are studying, thus encouraging them to express their anxiety through music.

At the beginning of the workshop, I felt full of information and data received. However, towards the end, that spirit began to grow," said Asteriska about her experience in living a workshop.

After the workshop, musicians have two months to create musical works that raise awareness messages about the environment and climate crisis. The songs they produced were summarized in the album sonic/panic Vol. 2.

The album will be officially released on November 9. As part of the launch series, the first four singles from Voice of Baceprot, Matter Mos, Greenhouse Effects, and Asteriska have been released.
