JAKARTA - In number, female rappers in Indonesia may not be as many as male rappers. However, from several names, Cécil Yang is one of the characters.

Female rapper who joined the sublabel Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia, Floor Inc, and is now ready to release his debut single with the title 321 (I'm Callin') whose lyrics he wrote himself with the melody made by Gamaliel.

According to the girl who was born on November 12, 1998, '321 (I'm Callin') 'is not planned to be her first song. However, because the first song was deemed inappropriate, Cécil tried to write the second song and created this single.

This song was done from April. There was a change in terms of beat because I felt that it was not suitable when I was combined with the notation and lyrics. The total process of making it myself took one month and I was quite satisfied and proud when I heard the results because this was completely different from what I had been singing so far. The reason I chose this song as a single debut is because I like to try new things and challenge myself. In single 321 (I'm Callin'), I feel all that," he said in a written broadcast received by VOI, September 26.

As a singer who has just had a debut single, Cécil feels the challenges. Although not classified as a new singer in the hip-hop world, he made many adjustments to enter this new era.

"Here, I have to change my old rap style a little bit. Previously, I used to use low notes for rap and the lyrics were a bit rough, now it's modified a little bit. So far, I've had quite a lot of criticism and everything is trying to be processed here. It's not an easy thing, but I managed to do it. In addition, I also tried new music so it took a little adaptation, "explained Cécil.

According to him, even though he carries a rap genre, the message he wants to convey via "321 (I'm calling') can go to anyone, especially women.

"My message is that we as women must have self-love because if we weren't us, who else would love ourselves? It was also the feeling of self-love that made me proud as a female rapper in Indonesia because we could work freely and get a lot of support. As part of the minority in the music industry, Cécil seems not to be too worried about that problem. The concern I feel is not as big as my passion when joining a big label and hoping to create a lot of preferred works. Because there are not many female rappers in Indonesia and few who dare to enter this music, so our existence must be appreciated even more.

Cécil hopes that by joining him with Floor Inc, he can fulfill his dream of exploring hip-hop music further. This effort was made in order to introduce the music genre to more people.

I want to make hip-hop more heard and not just from us, for us aka only enjoyed by certain groups. I want hip-hops to no longer be a minority music genre, but can compete with pop, ballad, or all the music genres that are currently hits because Indonesian hip-hops are not inferior to Western hip-hops and have good rappers.
