JAKARTA - Jon Bon Jovi admitted that he was surprised when he first heard his own vocals. He revealed this when he was a guest on The Kelly Clarkson Show program which aired August 21.

At first the vocalist of Bon Jovi didn't feel anything wrong. When he sang it felt like nothing was strange, until he replayed the tape.

"When I heard the sound over the speaker, I felt like I heard myself for the first time. And it didn't sound like it was my fault. But it was 15 or 16 months ago," he said as quoted by Blabbermouth.

As the recovery period progresses, conditions slowly improve. Although not as optimal as before injury, Jon is grateful to still be able to sing.

"It was a long time ago when I recorded Bon Jovi's new album, Forever, everything was fine even though I was initially shocked to hear about the change. I had to get through all this, while the recovery was still going on," he said.

Steven Tyler, vocalist of Aerosmith, experienced a similar condition. Due to a vocal injury that never recovered, he and his bandmates decided to retire to tour.

Jon Bon Jovi is optimistic about his future as a vocalist. "It feels very enlightening when I'm out there. While I'm still capable, I'll write songs and recordings," he concluded.
