JAKARTA - The Indonesian Music Award Foundation (AMI) presented six speakers with various backgrounds to discuss the existence of artificial intelligence (AI) or artificial intelligence in the Indonesian music industry today.

The discussion, which was hosted by Tantowi Yahya, was held at the Radio Building of the Republic of Indonesia, Gambir, Central Jakarta on Tuesday, August 13.

Febrian Nindyo, guitarist for HIVI! who is also the Secretary General of the Federation of Indonesian Musicians (FESMI) said in his material that musicians who are in the music production sector are the most affected today.

"When we had a dialogue with fellow musicians, the most directly affected now and most concerned are in the production sector," said Febri.

The intended musicians are musicians involved in songwriting, recording sessions, to post-production.

Febri took the example of how musicians who make digital audio production with sample music, can now be very easy to replace their role by one AI-based platform.

"Especially with the latest application now, it can already make music from scratch, it can already make music and the song too," said Febri.

The 32-year-old guitarist feels that there must be cooperation from all parties to deal with the existence of AI in music. The right action must be taken, given the rapid development of technology.

"That's homework for us together. Because with AI and others, I see their inequality will increase. We will be much more motivated, while friends who do not follow will be left behind," he said.

Meanwhile, Candra Darusman as the General Chair of the AMI Foundation opened this offline and online discussion to hear the views of music actors and related parties. AMI wants to answer the question 'is it time for AI-based works to receive awards?'.

"In the future, there will come a time when maybe we should have a position how to appreciate this AI-based work," said Candra.

Furthermore, Candra said that what was conveyed in the discussion could be input for AMI in making decisions, whether AI-based works also needed to get a place.

"But once again this is just gathering opinions for how next year will be. We can't avoid it if AI is part of our lives. Yes, of course, someone agrees and disagrees, for their respective reasons," concluded Candra Darusman.

Apart from Febrian Nindyo, the discussion hosted by Tantowi Yahya also presented Ramya Prajna Sahisnu (Digital Creative Agency), Diana Silfiani (Entertainment Lawyer & Publisher), Prof. Dr., Ahmad M Ramli (Founder Center of Cyberlaw & Digital Transformation, Faculty of Law UNPAD), Indra Aziz (Musisi & Vocal Coach), and Eka Gustiwana (Musisi & Music Producer).
