JAKARTA - Child psychologist Ennie Indrianie sees children's songs as not just ordinary music, which has a big role in children's growth and development.

The reason is, children do not yet have full awareness of the causes of behavior, that's where children's songs through lyrics that contain positive values of life are able to take a role in guiding children.

"Often if we sing songs repeatedly, we automatically sing songs reflexively. After reflexing singing songs, the words in the song are locked in our pre-aware nature," said Ennie Indrianie in a written statement received by VOI, Friday, July 19.

The words locked in the child's pre-aware nature then affect his psychological condition. Therefore, children's songs with good lyrics contain positive motivation and cultivation of values are important.

Furthermore, Ernie also talked about the dominance of children's songs with foreign language lyrics on the internet. Often children are exposed to foreign songs that are not mother tongue in the first phase of children communicating. This is a problem in itself, because it does not have an impact on the growth of children's characters.

In another sense, changing children's songs in Indonesian with foreign language songs is not always right.

Foreign language songs will be able to replace Indonesian children's songs if the child understands the lyrics. If the child is bilingual, maybe he will catch the meaning a little. But if the child is monolingual or bilingual, not native, for example, children can speak Javanese and Indonesian, or Sundanese and Indonesian, which will be absorbed by the children in tone alone, does not absorb the essence and meaning of the song because they do not understand," said Ernie.
