Laufey Appears Without A Driver At The Java Jazz Festival 2024, Is It Called A Special Show?

JAKARTA - Laufey appeared at the first day of the Java Jazz Festival 2024 in a special show entitled An Intimate Solo Performance from Laufey which was held at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta on Friday, May 24.

Throughout his appearance, Laufey appeared alone on stage without accompanying musicians. When viewed from the title given, it makes sense to be called solo performance, but I can't imagine if what is meant there is only Laufey alone on stage with thousands of spectators filling the room.

After the audience entered the room where Laufey appeared, the media crew who were present were asked to wait outside the room first. The VOI team who was present at the concert location entered the room when Laufey was performing a Valentine. He himself was on stage playing the hollow body guitar.

The stage looks deserted, there's only the piano behind Laufey. Then, the singer from Iceland brought 'Fragile', 'Magnolia', and Street by Street' with a hollow body guitar.

For a special show, what was presented on stage was still lacking. However, the audience who attended seemed to enjoy it. They enjoy every moment with Laufey, either while singing or communicating with fans.

On the sidelines of his appearance, Laufey responded several times to the screams of the audience. When he saw a child carrying a doll, he asked and asked the child to come forward on stage.

"I saw someone brought a doll, can you take it?" Laufey said asking the crew to take the doll from the audience.

"Oh, this is me with Junia? I promise to keep it and give it to Junia," Laufey said again, after holding the twin doll given by the audience.

Next, Laufey turned to the piano. He played some songs, such as Let You Break My Heart Again, Dreamer, Misty (cover), and Promise.

After four repertoires with piano, Laufey returns to play his guitar by bringing 'Falling Behind', Trouble, I Wish You Love, Bored, and Letter to My 13 Years Old Self.

Laufey's performance on the first day seemed to be going well, the audience enjoyed it, but to be called a special appearance, especially with the additional costs incurred to the audience, seemed a bit exaggerated.

Lack of support from accompanying musicians, Laufey's performance was minimally improvised. It's a shame, considering that the singer who graduated from Berklee College of Music has high musicality.

But on the other hand, Laufey's courage to appear alone and the organizers can be called a breakthrough. It's not easy to appear alone on the big stage. If it wasn't Laufey, it might not have happened.

In his last repertoire, Laufey performed 'From the Start', a song he called his change of life'.

Laufey also invited Junia, her twin to go up on stage playing the violin. Like in many concerts recently, Junia has filled the interlude part of the song.
