Released In New York, Navicula And Endah N Rhesa Release Single Collaboration 'Segara Gunung'

JAKARTA - Two units of music from Indonesia, Endah N Rhesa and Navicula, collaborated with a musical for a new single entitled Segara Gunung. This song was released in New York ahead of the commemoration of Earth Day.

There are elements of typical natural voices of the archipelago such as tropical rainforests and the ocean embedded in this song. They represent Indonesia at a global music initiative called "sounds Right".

A number of well-known international musicians were involved in this project, including Ellie Goulding, AURORA, David Bowie x Brian Eno, UMI x V from BTS, Mylar, London Grammar, and many more.

The global music initiative Founds Right makes Nature an official musician with a profile created and verified on Spotify under the name NATURE. By listening to songs from NATURE, music lovers will help raise funds for natural conservation and ecosystem rehabilitation.

The initiative was launched in New York, United States by The Museum for the United Nations - UN Live ahead of Earth Day which aims to drive global conversations about the importance of natural roles and support millions of music lovers to take concrete action in protecting our planet.

Apart from Indonesia, various musicians from various countries are also involved in this global movement, such as Colombia, Norway, Venezuela, Kenya, Denmark, Britain, the United States, and India.

The'sounds Right' initiative is very important for Indonesia. Our country is the largest archipelagic country in the world, with the third largest rain forest area in the world, and one of the most biologically diverse ecosystems on earth. However, deforestation, climate change, and pollution damage nature and bring extinction to many living things," said Gede Robi, vocalist of Navicula.

Navicula and Endah N Rhesa display the sounds of tropical rainforests and Indonesian seas in the song Segara Gunung. This song is full of cultural and environmental meanings, inspired by a Balinese classic mantra and kidung sung for worship and celebration when nature is fertile and abundant, through an equivalent and balanced harmonious relationship between humans, nature, and the Creator. That nature is not just the background of human activities, but a living entity that needs to be respected and protected.

"Because Mount is the exploration of poetry and music about the dynamical interaction between masculine and feminine energy represented by mountains and seas. The lyrics of this song are a love story between the two and is a metaphor for the creation of life and the importance of natural balance," explained Endah.

Navicula and Endah N Rhesa can participate in this initiative through the global movement Music Declaration Emergency (MDE) which unites musicians and music lovers in responding to the climate crisis with the slogan No Music on a Dead Planet. Indonesia is the first country in Asia to join the global MDE, under the auspices of the Indonesian Climate Communications Arts & Music Lab (IKLIM). ICLIM produces music, art, and other content to educate, inspire, and mobilize individuals and communities to take climate action.
