Intertick Criticizes Oportunist Officials Through New Singles

JAKARTA - An indie-rock unit from Bogor, Antartick is back with a message of honesty and integrity as outlined in a new single entitled Opportunity.

Through his new song, the unit consisting of Joean (vocals), Anang (guitar), Helvi (bass) and Sandy (drums) advised about the importance of promoting truth and transparency in leadership.

The song Oportunis describes unscrupulous persons or opportunists among public officials and those who call themselves representatives of the people. In many cases, they prioritize images over actual facts and data.

Through the stabbing lyrics combined with rock music arrangements, this song is expected to connect critical voices of those who demand honest, fair and open behavior from a public official who is tasked with serving the people.

"We made this song several years ago, and it turns out that what we have written is very related to the current situation and conditions. Imaging everywhere, attacking and bringing down each other's political opponents with the words membeling the interests of the people' as jargon, pretending to work in front of the camera but sleep during meetings representing the people. That's a real picture, said Helvi in a press release received by VOI, Friday, February 2.

"If it's like this, who can believe in the promises of those who spread it, who are said to be concerned with and prosper the people, but in fact it's just nonsense, right?" he continued.

Intertick personnel want to represent public anger. They are disappointed with the behavior of some public officials who only prioritize their group and are not sincere in fighting for the interests of the people.

"It turns out that there are still many corrupt practices, inefficient use of budgets, and attitudes that do not care about the needs of the people. Even though there are officials who do work seriously, the impression is generally still colored by the behavior of people whose numbers are not small," said Joean.

"We (Antartick) hope that through this musical work entitled Oportunist it can be a reminder of our awareness of the importance of choosing a leader who is not only good at acting, but also reliable and honest in carrying out trust and responsibility," concluded Anang.
