LMKN Blak-Blakan About Naughty Concert Organizers: Partypora 2023 Not Paying Royalties, Jakarta Fair Dissolution

JAKARTA - The National Collective Management Institute (LMKN) as an institution tasked with collecting royalties for performing rights in Indonesia already has a special Online License System for live events that have been used since May 2023.

Through this system, the withdrawal of live event category royalties is stated to have had a positive impact on increasing royalties collection.

To the media crew, LMKN shows how the system works and can find out which music promoters or concert organizers have already and have not paid royalties online.

Yessy Kurniawan as the LMKN Commissioner asked the media crew to mention the concert in 2023 to determine the status of the royalty payment. Then the media crew asked to see the status of the 2023 Partypora event.

"Partypora try, is there? Nothing, meaning you don't pay," said Yessy Kurniawan during a press conference at the LMKN Office, Kuningan, South Jakarta on Wednesday, January 17.

Remembering Partypora as a big event featuring many Indonesian musicians' works, Yesy reminded that concert organizers as copyright users must also have a commitment to increase royalties for the welfare of songwriters.

"So proving that users must also be a concerned part of the issues that are being fought for. So, if the user doesn't want to pay, there won't be royalties either," said Yessy.

Furthermore, the LMKN Commissioner asked the media crew to mention other music events to see the status of the payment. The media crew also asked to see the status of the Jakarta Fair.

Surprisingly, Yessy said that the status of paying royalties for the Jakarta Fair does not need to be seen, because the annual event is included as a 'naughty' user who has received a subpoena from LMKN.

"Wow, Jakarta Fair doesn't need to be found. It really doesn't want to pay. You don't have to, the fight with me is like that," said Yessy Kurniawan.

"That's not paying. It's already on the subpoena list," he said.

With the system currently being used, LMKN rejects allegations of not being transparent. All royalty payment data from live events can be viewed through the website www.imknlisence.id by members.

"So, we are very transparent with the management of music concerts. So with technology we use it as governance," concluded Yessy Kurniawan.
