Rian D'Masiv Worried About The Prohibition Of Bringing Affected Songs To The Resilience Of The Music Ecosystem

JAKARTA - Rian Ekky Pradipta alias Rian D'Masiv voiced his opinion regarding the case of banning singing songs that were crowded with songwriters in Indonesia in the past year.

The D'Masiv vocalist admitted that he was concerned about what had happened. According to him, the case of the ban has the potential to cause conflict that has an impact on the decline in Indonesia's music ecosystem.

My other @dmasivbandofficial friends and I are musicians who to this day still depend on music. I am very concerned about the conflict against banning this song. It's not just about one or two songs, but about how we value works of art," wrote Rian D'Masiv in an Instagram upload, Monday, January 15.

"I'm afraid that this conflict could be a setback for the development of the music ecosystem in Indonesia. Our music industry needs to develop, not be hampered by issues like this," he continued.

According to Rian, what was voiced by several songwriters raised fears that musicians and show organizers would perform Indonesian songs. He assessed that the diversity of musical expressions in Indonesia could decrease.

Rian is aware that the National Collective Management Institute (LMKN) and the Collective Management Institute (LMK) as Collective Management Organizations (CMO) in Indonesia need to improve their performance, but this can be achieved if all parties run together.

In my opinion, the Collective Management Organizations (CMOs) rules in Indonesia are good enough, but there is a lot of room for improvement in their implementation. What we need right now is the union of musicians, songwriters, and all stakeholders in the music industry in Indonesia to work together to improve this situation," wrote Rian D'Masiv.

"I believe that CMO activities in Indonesia can be carried out through a technological approach, as mandated in Government Regulation No. 56 of 2021 concerning Song and/or Music Information Systems (SILM) and Song and/or Music Data Centers (PDLM). We must support and develop this system. It is better that all music people in Indonesia must unite and work hand in hand to build this ecosystem, not become war and distrust each other," he concluded.
