Rieka Roslan Urges Singers Who Bring Other Musicians To Enter Direct License Into Riders

JAKARTA - Rieka Roslan, who is a member of the All-Indonesian Composter Association (AKSI), voiced the application of direct license on the royalty payment system at a music concert.

According to him, direct license is not a difficult thing to implement. However, there must be an active role for singers or musicians, who act as artists or performers in a concert.

Rieka Roslan said concert performers could include direct licenses as riders and be outlined in a contract with the event organizers.

The one who pays (direct license) is not the artist, the one who pays is the sponsors through EO. It's the same with the riders," Rieka Roslan said in an Instagram upload, Monday, January 8.

"Whatever is approved by the sponsors and EO, finally the artist all wants to play because it is equipped with a riders contract. Now the permission of the songwriter with the song performed that day is whatever, what is agreed is not given the rights," he continued.

Rieka believes that if the performers include direct licenses as riders, the organizers will accept it. He reflected on his experience, where his riders were always fulfilled.

So I think this is a very easy job. Because during my 26 years of singing, all my riders were followed," he said.

The singer is why sponsors and EO always agree because they are hire to make the event good. But the event was good and lively because of the good selection of songs too. So, I think this is a very logical request," concluded Rieka Roslan.
