Wow! Leading The Top Position Of The Song Christmas Number One 2023, Followed By SamRIDer And The Pogues

JAKARTA -WHm!, the duo driven by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley, leads the top position on the Christmas Number One 2023 chart.

This news follows the fierce competition between the iconic pop duo of the 80s Wam! and Eurovision star SamRIDer over the past week through their respective songs; Last Christmas (1986) and Youre Christmas To Me (2023).

In last week's first look at the race, only 42 units of the charts stood between the two and took the top spot on the UK charts.

However, this week it was revealed by Official Charts that Wham! is in pole position, and widens the gap between Ryder's original Amazon Music song which remains in Number Two.

However, it looks like the charts won't last like this until Christmas considering Ryder played an exclusive show for fans last night, December 19, in Shoreditch, London, in a bid to promote the song right on Christmas Day.

Similarly, on the same day, The Pogues shared a special physical edition of their iconic Christmas song titled Fairytale Of New York in an effort to climb to the charts.

Originally released in 1988 featuring Kirsty MacColl, the song was republished in memory of the band's late vocalist, Shane MacGowan, who died of pneumonia on November 30.

All results from this re-issuance will be donated to the Irish charity Dublin Simon Community, and this release is also carried out in conjunction with a fan campaign to make the Fairytale of New York a Christmas Number One for the first time.

The push for the top position on the charts is also supported by Shane MacGowan's wife, Victoria Mary Clarke. Currently, the Fairytale Of New York is placed at Number Five.

The rest of the Christmas charts show Mariah Carey placed in Number Three with her lively classical song All I Want For Christmas Is You, which was originally released in 1994, and the hit collaboration of Ed Sheeran and Elton John, Merry Christmas, which arrived in 2021, placed at Number Six.

The official Christmas Number One 2023 race starts on Friday, December 15, and the deadline for sales and streaming tally is midnight on Thursday tomorrow.

The final chart for Christmas Number One 2023 will be announced at The Official Chart on BBC Radio 1 Friday, December 22 starting at 4pm.

Over the past five years, the duo from England, LadBaby, has consistently topped the Christmas charts with their cute touch on hit songs.

They previously reached the top spot in 2018 with We Built This City, in 2019 with I Love Sausage Rolls, in 2020 with Don't Stop Me Eatin', and in 2021 with the collaboration of Ed Sheeran and Elton John, Sausage Rolls For Everyone.
