JAKARTA - The Panturas had the opportunity to try new things when collaborating with Iga Massardi, Lorjhu, and Putra Sriwijaya in the Collaboration X music project which was released on YouTube last week.
As a band from Jatinangor, Sumedang and close to Sundanese culture, The Panturas collaborated for the first time with local Madura art, from Lorjhu.
We entered the Madura dance because Lorjhu was originally from Madura. So in the music there is a SAronen (traditional musical instrument), then there is Can Macan and Singa-Singaan," said Bagus alias Gogon (bass) when met in Kemang, South Jakarta recently.
"In Irama Pesisir, there is also the Madura dance. So, indeed we want to marry elements of music, performing arts and Madura customs," he continued.
Gogon also really appreciates Lorjhu's strong musical style with its original cultural values. As a band from Tanah Sundanese, The Panturas is happy to be able to participate in in introducing Madura culture more broadly to the Indonesian people.
"Unsur Madura why do we agree there, because Madura doesn't know much. Many people know foods like the Madura satay or Madura duck, or the people are the Muslim Tretan. But, they don't really know that Madura is really cool. And everyone should know, "said Gogon.
The Panturas is aware that it is not easy to combine his music with elements of Madura music and art. However, they are satisfied with the direction given by Iga Massardi who also acts as producers in this project.

Had time to find out what Madura's art was like, The Panturas personnel were also greatly helped to get to know Madura's culture when the cultivation process took place.
Overall, Surya alias Kuya (drums) admits that they are satisfied with the collaboration they have gone through. They learn what Madura's art is like, and how the musicians are able to raise the value of local culture in their works.
"Because we do whatever the project is to learn too, including learning Madura culture," concluded Kuya.
