Halford provided the latest news about the band's 19th album in 2020, telling interviewers that the album was being compiled, although in an unusual way due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"We've started working on it (a new album)," Halford told Iowa radio station Lazer 103.3. We had some great writing sessions earlier this year until the world stalled at the end of March.
I'm back here [returning] to Phoenix just to relax for a moment and get ready for another writing session. That's why we need to do it as a band. You do a lot of work and then you leave it and then you come back there again and analyze it back and continue the growth of the album," he said.
That's what we did at that time, and we're still doing it until now we're still compiling it little by little. This is an unusual way of making an album, but we're not the only band to experience this situation in terms of creativity. You can't let this pandemic stop you; you have to try and keep getting as much life as you can."
