JAKARTA - The West Java Bandung City Government has added five new provider kitchen facilities to support the implementation of the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) national program in Kembang City.

Head of the Bandung City Education Office, Tantan Surya, in Bandung Saturday, said the addition of this provider's kitchen was the first step to meet the nutritional needs of children in the Bandung City area.

"All kitchens have been verified directly by the center. Cleanliness, operational permits, and sanitation are the main things to pay attention to. This is to ensure the food provided is not only nutritious, but also safe," said Tantan.

Tantan explained, with this addition, the total provider kitchens are seven kitchens that can serve as many as 21,000 students.

"This increase in the number of students is carried out in stages. The target is to reach up to 30 percent of students out of a total of 310.000 students in the city of Bandung by 2025," he said.

He said this program was supported by the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), which ensures the safety and quality of food.

"Every kitchen providing food must meet the standards set by the National Nutrition Agency and be closely monitored," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Bandung City Health Office, Anhar Hadian, ensured that catering for free nutritious meals had been verified by meeting nutritional, hygienic, and sanitary standards.

"Alhamdulillah, the catering vendor is already professional, so the hygiene and sanitation are guaranteed," said Anhar.

Anhar said that food supervision was carried out strictly to ensure the safety and benefits of this program for students.

"We have received directions from the Ministry of Health regarding the implementation of this program. The main principle is to ensure balanced nutrition, as well as the hygiene and sanitation of food given to students," he said.
