Anang's Story First Came To Potlot: 1 Million Was Given For Make Over

JAKARTA - In an interview with Bimbim and Kaka on the Slank Suka2x YouTube channel some time ago, Anang Hermansyah told various stories from when he was in Potlot.

Anang said the reason he was interested in coming to Potlot was that he was amazed by Slank's works.

"I went into Potlot in 1991, because at that time I really remembered my album Biarkanlah released in 1992," Anang opened.

"So why was I attracted to Potlot at that time, because I really wanted to meet Slank. Because I thought how come it was possible for Indonesian children to make music as great as that. People arrived on Slank's tour in Sukabumi and Tasikmalaya, I came along, brought Pay's guitar bag at that time. How proud I was, not even in Slank," he continued.

In fact, Anang said that his dream of becoming a solo singer came true after meeting Pay Burman at Potlot.

"At that time, the album Biarkanlah in 1992 was able to enter Musica, one of which was thanks to Pay, who transferred me to the Musica label," he explained.

"Because at that time, for a year, we never got a demo offer, until finally, Pay offered it to Mr. Handi, and he agreed," he added.

"Even though at first Mr. Handi said this, 'Pay's good song, I've just bought the song. Even though it sounds cool'. Then Pay said, 'but his son isn't cool, sir'. Luckily Mr. Handi wanted to meet me until the recording ended. Yes," said Anang.

"But Mr. Handi kept saying, 'Pay's voice is cool, let's just dress him up'. So Mr. Handi gave me one million and was told to buy clothes for me," he concluded.

Now, Anang Hermansyah has proven to be successful as a singer in Indonesia with a myriad of works such as Bermunajat (2020), Bidadari Surga (2023), album Separuh Jiwaku Pergi (2009), and others.
