JAKARTA - The GIGI music group has been working for almost three decades, the personnel don't remember exactly how many songs they have created because there are too many.

"Some say there are more than 300 songs, some count 200 songs or 246 songs. We ourselves don't know how many songs have been composed," said GIGI vocalist Armand Maulana as quoted by Antara, Thursday.

Guitarist Dewa Budjana assesses that if it is calculated by repeating material on several albums, then GIGI has made 250 songs.

"There are around 24, GIGI albums, including compilation. There are songs that repeat them. That means around 250 songs, right, you can't know exactly because there is material on the first album that is brought back on the third album with an acoustic version. On the Brownies album too, there are songs that are repeated," said Budjana.

Since it was first formed on March 22, 1994, the band from Jakarta has released 13 studio albums and 11 compilation-religious albums. Currently, GIGI consisting of Armand Maulana (vocals), Dewa Budjana (guitar), Thomas Ramdhan (bass), and Gusti Hendy (drums) admits that they have new materials to be released into full albums.

"A few days ago we had training and, thank God, got two new songs," said Armand.

Working on an album for GIGI is a process that continues. In the middle of the trip, they could have inspired creating other materials until they were finally enough to make a full album.

"Everything is being done by flowing while watching when it is the right time to release something," said Armand.

GIGI is currently holding a series of tours of "The Best of GIGI Road To 30th Anniversary" in five cities, namely Malang Dome UMM Hall (6/5), Yogyakarta UNY GOR (20/5), Surabaya Arena DBL (3/6), Senayan Jakarta Basketball Hall (17/6), and C-Tra Bandung Sports Center (24/6).
