JAKARTA - Yamaha Motor Europe NV announced that the fully owned European manufacturing location in Saint Beautiful, France, previously known as MBK Industriale SAS (MBK), has changed its name to Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Europe S.A.S. (YMME).

This name change, approved by the Working Board at MBK, to YMME, is part of Yamaha Motor's long-term vision, strengthening its commitment to Europe's superior, competitive, and sustainable local manufacturing.

"My career started at MBK 30 years ago, and so far I have paid special attention to MBK. Operations and product ranks continue to develop until they reach a high level of advantage at this time that allows the production of Yamaha's flagship models at this factory. This can be realized thanks to the involvement and efforts of all employees over the past 40 years," said Olivier Pravost, President & CEO - Yamaha Motor Europe NV, in his official statement, Friday, January 12.

Furthermore, he stated that this name change is also a clear acknowledgment for companies that are members of the Yamaha Motor Group and will support to embrace more Yamaha products.

"Let's continue to move forward using local Yamaha manufacturing as a competitive and sustainable advantage," he added.

YMME will continue to diversify into multi-product factories and towards electric mobility. The plant previously produced Yamaha flagship models such as Ternére 700, MT-125, and XMAX, assembling a new series of Yamaha eBikes, and adjusting Yamaha-powered Two-Wheel Vehicles and ATV for European specific needs.

The introduction of Ternére Extreme and Ternére Explore in November is the latest evidence of the factory's capabilities. Previously, it was announced that YMME would start production of eDrive units for OEM customers in March 2024.

"The renamement of MBK to European Yamaha Motor Manufacturing is an important acknowledgment of the efforts of all employees over the past few years, to transform the company to be able to produce Yamaha mainstay models such as the 700cc Ternére family," said Patrice Maciejewski, President, Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Europe S.A.S.

For information, MBK has been a subsidiary of Yamaha since 1986. This change marks a new era in factory history, where YMME will continue to strengthen its important role in Yamaha operations in Europe.
