JAKARTA - Almost two years after its latest generation was introduced in the local market, Toyota finally launched the Vellfire Hybrid in Malaysia. This gasoline-electric powered luxury MPV complements the Vellfire line in the country, which was previously marketed in a 2.5-liter gasoline version since 2023.
Still in the status of complete import (CBU) from Japan, the Toyota Vellfire Hybrid is sold at a price of 549,900 ringgit or equivalent to around Rp2.2 billion. The price is more expensive Rp416 million than the pure gasoline version which is priced at 448,000 ringgit.
Interestingly, the Vellfire Hybrid is even slightly more expensive than the 2.4-liter turbo Toyota Alphard, with a difference of almost 2,000 ringgit or Rp8 million. The price of the Vellfire Hybrid is on theroad without insurance.
However, it includes a five-year vehicle warranty without mileage limit and an eight-year battery warranty which is also without kilometer limit. Although the price is high, the Vellfire Hybrid offers stronger performance.
This MPV carries a 2.5-liter Dynamic Force engine A25A-FXS four-cylinder naturally aspirated with an Atkinson cycle, producing 187 PS at 6,000 rpm and 233 Nm of torque at 4,300-4,500 rpm. Reported from Paultan, Tuesday, January 13.
The heart of the girlfriend is combined with an electric motor with 182 PS of power with a torque of 270 Nm, as well as an E-CVT transmission. The combination of the two produces a total system output of 250 PS, or an increase of 70 PS (37 percent) compared to the gasoline version.
Another significant advantage is efficiency. The fuel consumption of the Vellfire Hybrid is claimed to be only 5.7 liters per 100 km (17.5 km/liter). This figure is much more economical than the gasoline Vellfire which is at 9.1 liters per 100 km (11 km/liter).
From the outside, this hybrid model is basically identical to the gasoline version. The design still carries separate LED headlights, a large cross-barred grille, vertical air channel accents, and an elongated LED taillight with a U-shaped graphic.
The wheels used are also the same, namely 19-inch ten-spoke models with two-tone finishes. Entering the cabin, the Vellfire Hybrid looks more exclusive with Nappa leather seats in Sunset Brown, different from the gasoline version which uses black-colored imitation leather.
In addition, the hybrid model is also equipped with a head up display so that the feature package is in line with Alphard. Entertainment and information features include a 12.3-inch instrument panel and a 14-inch head unit for infotainment and navigation.
The AC settings still use the Lexus-style physical knob, with support for Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. The JBL 15-speaker audio system and Qi wireless charger are also standard equipment.
The most striking change is in the second row, where VIP passengers are now spoiled with an Alphard-style Executive Lounge seat, complete with integrated footrests, a folding table with a makeup mirror, a smartphone-style touch screen control, and a massage feature next to the seat heating and ventilation.
Entertainment is also enhanced through a 14-inch rear monitor mounted on the ceiling, accompanied by two rear sunroofs with automatic curtains. Other standard equipment available includes an app-based remote start, four-zone automatic air conditioning with Panasonic Nanoe X ionization, eight-way electric front seats with memory, electric steering, paddle shifters, digital rearview mirrors, 360-degree cameras, power tailgate, to anti-heat and safety window film.
For safety, Toyota embeds a complete Toyota Safety Sense package. This system includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop & go, lane centering assist, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, parking AEB, traffic sign recognition, to adaptive high beam. As standard, the Vellfire Hybrid is also equipped with six airbags and stability control.
